Y9 Artwork

Art in Y9

In Year 9 students continue to use a range of media and processes and are encouraged to work both collaboratively and more independently. Projects encourage students to create clearer and more sophisticated visual links with artists. Students start the year with a GCSE style project, where they use all they have learnt in Art so far to create personal responses to the theme ‘In Disguise’. Students have the opportunity to work with film, animation, collage, printmaking and heat transfer techniques and are also introduced to darkroom photography. Students continue to develop their three dimensional skills by creating responses to the Grimm Fairy-tales using paper engineering and construction techniques. Sketchbooks extend classwork and students are encouraged to write artist comparisons and research in greater detail.
