In Art we encourage a reflective, analytical and experimental approach to the subject and aim to build students’ confidence and enthusiasm. In Year 7 we focus on core skills including observational drawing, composition, clay construction and the ability to analyse other artists’ work. Projects covered include; a print making project where students create their own Chimeras and a design based project, which utilises screen printing and heat press processes in reference to the Arts and Crafts Movement. Students begin the year with a clay project, where they respond to Antoni Gaudi and natural forms and construct slab clay pinnacles. Sketchbooks are used to extend classwork and encourage independent research.
