Y13 Artwork (click to enlarge images)

The first year of the A level will focus predominantly on refining your skills and broadening your knowledge of a range of different media and processes. You will also be encouraged to work collaboratively, think more conceptually and taught how to curate.

In the first term you will be taking part in a number workshops. Media and processes that will be covered this year include:

-    Darkroom induction
-    Camera-less Photography (including Photogenetic drawings and Pinhole)
-    Introduction to sculpture and casting (plaster and alginate)

-    Jewellry Design
-    Installation
-    Etching and printmaking

In the Spring Term you will be introduced to exhibition curation. Each class will be required to pick a title out of a hat and use this as the foundation of their exhibition theme.  You will be required to create a body of work that will culminate in an end of year exhibition that you will promote and hang. The supporting work for the show and exhibition itself will act as your end of year assessment, which will be marked by your teachers.

The second year will have a more conventional structure and will consist of a personal project, written essay and externally set assignment:

Component 1: 60% Coursework + personal study

Component 2: 40% Externally Set Assignment
